Key dates

  • Deadline for registering to vote – 16 April, midnight
  • Deadline for registering for a postal vote – 17 April, 5pm
  • Deadline for registering for a proxy vote – 24 April, 5pm
  • Deadline to apply for a free voter authority certificate (if you have no voter ID) – 24 April, 5pm
  • Polling Day is Thursday 2 May – polling opens at 7am and closes at 10pm
  • Declaration of result – 4 May

Voter ID
 
When voting at the polling station you must show an accepted form of photo ID before being issued with a ballot paper.
 
Accepted forms of photo ID include passports, photographic driving licences, biometric immigration documents, and certain concessionary travel passes.

Postal and proxy vote changes

Voters away on polling day can now apply for a postal or proxy vote online (they will need their national insurance number to apply):




Missed the post? Handing in completed postal votes

Postal votes can be handed in at any polling station on polling day or returned to County Hall, Trowbridge.

Anyone not returning their postal vote in the post and handing it in must complete a form for the vote to be accepted. Voters can only hand in a maximum of five postal votes and their own.
