Today, a record number of parks and green spaces collect a Green Flag Award
Peace Memorial Trust recreation ground in North Bradley has been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme as one of the very best in the South West as one of only 11 sites to receive a Green Flag Community Award in this area.
The recreation ground is among a record-breaking 1,970 UK parks and green spaces and 131 in thirteen other countries around the world that will today receive a prestigious Green Flag Community Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.
This international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.
Wendy Jones, Chairperson said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award again this year. We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining North Bradley Peace Memorial Trust recreation ground to such a high standard. We will be launching this year’s flag at our free WW1 Peace Day concert on Friday 19th July when Bratton Silver Band will be playing the grand finale in our series of concerts held over the past 6 years. Once again this will be an outdoor event if fine, picnics from 6.30, band to play from 7.30pm. Of course we have our lovely on-site hall to retreat to, should it be wet.
